The Parish of St Hilda and St Columba

and the Clifton Centre Community Association

Guidelines for Groups

St Columba’s Church and the Clifton Centre Community Association want everyone to enjoy the facilities and activities on offer. It is essential that all people feel safe and respected.

All organisations working with children, young people and vulnerable adults should:-

  • recognise that everyone has rights as individuals and should be treated with dignity and respect
  • raise awareness about safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • plan the work of the organisation so as to minimise the risk of harm to children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • develop effective procedures for responding to accidents and complaints
  • develop effective procedures for responding to alleged or suspected abuse
  • adopt and consistently apply a thorough and clearly defined method of recruiting and selecting staff and volunteers
  • respect confidentiality
If you have a concern that a child or vulnerable adult has experienced harm or abuse or is at risk of harm or abuse, please speak to a member of staff at the church or call the local social services safe guarding team for children or adults.
